The Ugly American
Monday morning ramble...
So, the Superbowl Champion New York Football Giants lost their last regular season game yesterday. I'm not really crushed by this, it was really more like the Champs invited the Vikings to come along and play a game or two in the playoffs. I mean, let's be real here! Who'd the Vikings beat in the second half yesterday? They beat the Giants second string! And it was still close! 12-4!
For the first time in Giants history they have TWO 1000 yard rushers! Brandon Jacobs and Derrick Ward joined a pretty cool list of tandem running backs to accomplish this feat. Larry Czonka and Mercury Morris did it on the undefeated Dolphin team in '72. Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier did it for the '76 Steelers and Mack and Byner did it for the Browns in '85. I'm not counting the Falcons because if one of the tandem is a QB then I personally would say that's not a very balanced offensive attack. And where did it get the Falcons anyway?
Hey check this out! David Carr, the Giants backup QB has a 144.1 QB rating! So what if he's only thrown 12 passes all year!
Now let's get down to the rest of it...
The Cowgirls are out! What a shame. If it was up to me, I'd make it illegal to even talk about them until the season is over and minicamps start up! What can you say about the 'Girls other than they may be the new Raiders, or at least the Raiders of the NFC. Because just like the Raiders, when the owner of the team gets to involved everything gets hosed up!
My prediction for next year...you ready? At the beginning of next season, the Cowgirls will once again be considered by the dumbass talking heads to be the best team in the NFC. HA!
I was watching NFL Network last night and Neon Dione, I call him that because I remember that he doesn't like it, couldn't seem to face it. He refuses to put any blame on the owner, I think Jerry Jones and him might have a thing going on, if you know what I mean. He refuses to give credit to anything ever related to the Giants. This fact was quite evident when the crew of the Sunday show was talking about the miraculous turn around of the Miami Dolphins. He wouldn't mention the front office guy who helped make it happen. Like Parcells didn't have anything to do with that!
The NFL Network will continue to be a second rate network as long as Neon Dione is on it. I don't care how many interceptions he had when he played or any other stat that he may have excelled in when he played. He's worse than Theisman when it comes to talking about football. What is it with some of these EX-cowgirls? Some of them, like Sanders and Irvin, I couldn't stand when they played and I can't stand as talking heads. Others like Emmitt Smith, Troy Aikman and Moose (I can't think of his name right now) who I had a lot of respect for as players are still doing a fine job.
I can remember a few years back when the Giants didn't make the playoffs with a 10-6 record. I was not happy, especially when I saw that the Shehawks had made it with the same record. I can't imagine how Patriot fans must feel after their team won 11 games and didn't make the playoffs! Look, I understand that the NFL is divided up into divisions and division winners get to the playoffs, but should an 8-8 team really make it when an 11-5 team doesn't?
And here's another thing that bothers me about some football players. I've always heard it said, act like you've been there before. This mainly pertains to guys getting into the end zone during a football game. But, if you're on a losing team and you score a touchdown, where do you get off acting like you're something special? If your team sucks and you occasionally do something that might be considered a little special, like scoring, and if you're on a losing team, it probably does seem special to you, then why not pretend like you have a little class? Why act like an idiot in the end zone if for no other reason than to get onto Neon Dione's list of "Primetime players"? If you got your second touchdown or sack in week 17, then you're not special!!!
Here's to hoping the NFL changes a few things this off season. I surely don't want to be subjected to losers like the Cowgirls and the "Kittens" in Detroit every Thanksgiving! 9-23 between them! Awesome! Oh well, it makes the women in my life a little happier when I'm not glued to the TV all day on Thanksgiving!
Congratulations to teams like the Falcons and the Dolphins for the awesome turnarounds from a year ago. Considering what the Falcons have been through, I think that's pretty impressive and for the Dolphins to go from least to beast in one season is outstanding! I mean come on! From 1-15 to 11-5 and AFC East champs is pretty dmaned good!
And lastly, why the hell don't my Giants have any cheerleaders? It's not like they can't find any beautiful women in NY and Jersey! Yeah, most of them have big hair, but that can be fixed!
That's all I got...
Have a nice day!
Tampa or bust!
Happy New Year!!!

Wow! 301 yards rushing!
It was 11 PM last night when the Giants tied the game in regulation. It was 11:15 when they won the coin toss to start overtime. If Carolina hadn't called time out, it would've been 11:30 when the Giants finally won the game. Way past my bedtime! Instead it was about 11:32, maybe :33 when they finally ended this game.
But I was wide awake!
I thought this was a great football game! Not sure if I'd still feel that way if the Giants hadn't won it. But now, the road to the Superbowl goes through East Rutherford, NJ!
My team plays the Vikings next week. The game doesn't really matter to the G-men, but the coach likes to play everybody all the time. Remember last year? The final game of the season didn't mean anything to either team really, but I think Coach Coughlin knew that if his guys played well against the Patriots, they could carry that into the playoffs.
Just in case you forgot, the Giants won three road playoff games last year and then beat the Pats in the Superbowl...just in case you forgot. I haven't! Hehe
Anyway, have a nice day...
...and Merry Christmas!
I wonder why...
I'm just gonna spew some random stuff here...don't mind me.
I've figured something out. I really don't like watching Sportscenter after the Giants lose a football game, but I really DO enjoy watching it after the Cowgirls lose...all that means is that I've not minded watching Sportscenter most of the time this football season! Hehehe
I heard one of the Ravens players say...I sure hope they enjoyed their little celebration! Good riddance to that ugly stadium! Yeah, I've been there. It sits right off the freeway. It's painted like an old navy ship that's sitting in a boat grave yard. Fifteen different shades of gray. Like they buy whatever's on sale as long as there's gray listed in the color somewhere! Who knows, maybe they just mix up all the left over paint and that's the color it turns into.
Is it just me, or does T.O. give up on at least one play in every game? I seem to see him lay up at least once every game when the ball is coming his way. I heard the fans see it in the Giant game. It would have been a TD more than likely. I saw him do it last night too!
If it wasn't for Roger Staubach, Emmitt Smith and the cheerleaders, not necessarily in that order, I really wouldn't like one little thing about the Cowgirls. I wonder what kind of career numbers Roger would've had if he hadn't honored his commitment to the Navy after four years at the academy? Smith had one of his most incredible games against the Giants, running for somewhere around 225 yards and a good deal of it coming with a separated shoulder! And there was that poster I had when I was about 18...remember the cheerleaders were really bad one year and posed for Playboy! Yeah, I know, I'm a pig. Sorry, what can I say? I mean come on man! The Giants don't even have cheerleaders! WTF is that all about?
Navy played some good football for about three quarters yesterday. It impresses me that they can field a team that can go 8-4. Think about it, anybody that plays football for any of the service academy's is pretty much guaranteed not to have a pro career.
I was stationed in Long Beach, CA back in the day when Napolean McCallum was drafted out of the Naval Academy by Al Davis. Back then the Raiders played football at the Coliseum in LA. They put McCallum on a ship stationed in Long Beach just so he could play football. As I remember it, there were a lot of people IN the navy that weren't very happy with that decision.
That's it, I'm done with my little rant. Gaints got a tough one tonight. I'm hoping they wake up and start to play the football they played earlier in the season...home field through the playoffs, not that they need it, they are the Road Warriors aftere all...
Have a nice day and...
Oh wait, one more thing!
It was a year ago last Friday that one of the most memorable experiences of my life occured. When I met one of the nicest people I've ever met when I was in a pretty bad situation. Look in the archives under last December, it's there. Of course it's there!
Merry Christmas Sidnie, to you and your family!

Went to the movies yesterday....
...And Giants fans, I have to warn you. There's a scene in "The Day the Earth Stood Still" that you may find very disturbing!
I don't want to give the movie away or anything. But trust me when I say that there are a few seconds in this movie that New York Giant football fans might find hard to take. I personally lost my breath, stood up in the theater and screamed...NO...NO...NO!
Not that it really matters, this one will be gone soon anyway! It still shocked me!
Have a nice day!

I must have been asleep for this one!!!
33 Senators Voted Against English as America's Official Language on June 6, 2007.
On Wed. 6 June 2007 23:35:23 - 0500 Colonel Harry Riley,USA, Ret. wrote:
Your vote against an amendment to the immigration Bill 1348......to make English America's official language is astounding.
On D-Day, no less, when we honor those that sacrificed in order to secure the bedrock, character and principles of America, I can only surmise your vote reflects a loyalty to illegal aliens.
I don't much care where you come from. What your religion is. Whether you're black, white, or some other color...male or female......Democrat, Republican or Independent....... But I do care when you are a United States Senator representing Citizens of America....and Vote against English as the official language of the United States.
Your vote reflects Betrayal.
Political Surrender. Violates Your Pledge of Allegiance. Dishonors historical principle. Rejects Patriotism. Borders on traitorous action and, in my opinion, makes you unfit to serve as a United States Senator...impeachment... Recall........Or other appropriate action is warranted or worse.
Four of you voting against English as America's Official Language are Presidential Candidates: Senator Biden, Senator Clinton, Senator Dodd and Senator Obama.
Four Senators vying to lead America, but won't or
Don't have the courage to cast a vote in favor of "English" as America's Official Language when 91% of American Citizens want English officially designated as our language.
This is the second time in the last several months this list of Senators have disgraced themselves as "political Hacks"...... Unworthy as Senators and certainly unqualified to serve as President of the United States.
If America is as angry as I am, you will realize a backlash so stunning it will literally "rock you out of your panties"......... And preferably totally out of the United States Senate.
The entire immigration bill is a farce... Your action only confirms this really isn't about America.....it is about self-serving politics......despicable at best. It has been said:
"Never Argue with an Idiot....They'll drag you down to their level!"
The following Senators voted against making English the official language
Biden (D-DE) (Wants to be President)
Clinton (D-NY) (Wants to be President)
Dodd (D- MN) wants to be president
Domenici (R-NM) coward. Protecting his senate seat
Feingold (D-win) - not unusual for him

Obama (D-IL) (Wants to be President)

Have a nice day!
Hey Cowboy fans...shut the hell up!
I'm constantly hearing a load of crap from disgruntled Cowboy fans about how the Cowgirls have won 5 Superbowl championships. Well, just in case fans of the Girls were wondering, professional football has been around a lot longer than their team has. And guess what! They even kept records before that Dallas team came along!
The Cowgirls have only been playing football for about 48 years. Yeah, they may have 5 Superbowl rings, but MY Giants have SEVEN Professional football championships. Got that Cowgirl fans. SEVEN!
So, if you're gonna live in the past, then you have to take all of the past into consideration. Why? Because I said so!
And since we're talking about football history, here's a one question quiz for all of you...
Any guesses where the chant D-FENSE came from???
You know who's asking, so you already know the answer!
Have a nice day!
Oh yeah, one more thing...
With three games left in the regular season, which team is NFC East Champions already? Yeah, my team took the day off yesterday against the Iggles, but one more win and they'll probably have home field throughout the playoffs. Are the Girls even in the playoffs yet???

Okay, one last thing on Plax...
I heard on TV the other day that another Giants receiver, Steve Smith, was robbed at gunpoint in front of his house just a few days before Burress shot himself in the leg.
Now obviously that doesn't change the fact that Plax shot himself in the leg and that still makes him an idiot. But I think it might help understand why an idiot might have had a gun in the first place.
And another thing. I got married in Vegas and my marriage license is recognized in all fifty states, right? So, if like I heard, Burress' gun was licensed in FL, then why isn't that license recognized everywhere? I mean come on man! Both licenses are deadly! Both carry massive penalties and restrictions...so, what's the difference?

They're sure talking about them now!
For the last three months most of the talking heads haven't really given the Giants their due. Yeah sure there was an undefeated team left, but really, Kerri Collins is their QB and what that tells me is that he may send the Titans to the Superbowl, but if history is any indicator, he won't show up to play! And yeah, I purposely spelled his name that way!
Do me a favor, speaking of talking heads, send the NFL network an email and tell them how bad you think Neon Dione Sanders is as a broadcaster! I swear, if the Cowgirls ever show up on the set of the NFL network, Sanders is liable to perform some very lewd and crude acts on each and every one of them! He swears the Girls are an awesome football team. Apparently those games look a little different when you watch them with your head planted squarely up your arse!
The Giants are all over the sports channels this week. Thanks Plax. I was just watching ESPN and a couple of talking heads, Skip Bayless being one of them, said that the Giants front office wasn't being fair to Burress. Yesterday an MRI revealed that he won't be able to play for four to six weeks. They've suspended him and put him on the non-football injury list. That means they don't have to pay him for the rest of the season. What did they expect the Giants to do? This dumbass was carrying around an apparently unregistered, loaded, round chambered, .40 cal pistol in the pocket of a pair of sweat pants in a NY City night club!
We don't even have to get into why he had a loaded .40 cal, with a round chambered in his pants. WTF was he doing in a New York City night club in sweat pants? Do you think you or I could get into a NYC night club in sweat pants? Can't he afford a nice pair of pants? I mean, I know the Giants have fined him a few times this year, but the guy makes ugly money!
It makes me wonder if when he was playing with the gun in his pocket, because that's what he had to be doing, was he holding it upright, or sideways like a gangster, when he shot himself in the leg?
Hey Plax! Ever heard of a safety? Maybe a holster? Maybe, even better in your case, get rid of the gun, you're too freaking stupid to own one! Just like some people shouldn't be allowed to drive a car or operate a computer, there are some folks that just have no business looking down the sites of a weapon. At least not from the back of the weapon anyway!
And lastly, I'm getting real tired of buying team jerseys and then having players disappear! Shockey was supposed to retire in Giant blue. Now he occasionally plays for the Aints! And who knows where Burress will end up. I find it hard to believe that he'll play in a Giant uniform again. It's still early in all this mess, but I don't see how much will change.
Have a nice day!

There are bad areas of Virginia Beach you know...
When I first moved to Virginia Beach about 18 years ago a friend of mine told me about a couple of areas of VB that I shouldn't look in for a place to live.
It was really a pretty easy thing to remember. He told me to stay away from any area with Green in the name. There are two that come to mind, one is called Level Green and the other one is called Green Run. When I went looking for a place to live I specifically avoided these neighborhoods because I have daughters.
Now, when you watch the local news around here most of the violence happens in Norfolk or Portsmouth or Newport News, but there are occasional incidents in VB and when there are they usually happen in one of the two places I mentioned earlier.
I know, you're asking, why are you bringing this up Andy? If you read this blog often enough or if you know me even a little bit, you know I'm a big time NY Giants fan. And if you're a football fan then you know that there's been a lot of talk the last few days about one of the Giants star players, Plaxico Burress. Well, Plax is from here and he grew up in Green Run!
So, I guess all you can say about the stuff going on with Burress right now is that you can take the kid out of Green Run, but you can't take Green Run out of the kid! It's a shame really. Some of these guys have all the talent in the world. All that talent, all that money and not a lick of common sense!
Oh well, the Giants will move on without him, just like they did with every other player that either retired, got traded or got hurt.
11-1! Best record EVER for MY Giants! Tampa Here we come!!!
