The Ugly American
In memorium...

To those that lost loved ones on Monday...
There's really nothing else to say. Nothing that won't get me all fired up anyway.
Went to the ball game today...
Let's not talk about the final score...it was a nice day...and a pretty good game until the bottom of the ninth!

but through most of the game, the Yankees played with two no 42's and later, when Rivera came in...

...there were three. Rivera wears 42 all the time anyway.
You see, today was Jackie Robinson Day in the Major Leagues...Jackie Robinson made his major league debut with the Dodgers on April 15, 1947. Breaking the color barrier. He played major league ball for 10 years. He wore 42. I believe that the major leagues have retired the number. the only players that can normally wear it are those that had it before it was retired...Like Rivera.

I really like this digital SLR...takes pretty good pics! I wasn't really that close. I was up in the plaza level...nice enough seats...they would have been nicer if they weren't in the shade...not today anyway!

This guy Marshall that pitches for Oakland...about throws the ball from the ground! nasty hurler!
Alright...my turn.
Everybody seems to be weighing in on the Imus flap, so I figured I'd share my two cents.
First off, let me say...I don't listen to Imus, apparently, he has somewhere in the neighborhood of 3 million idiots that do. That's about 1% of the population of my country. So, if nobody made a big deal over it, then about 99% of the country wouldn't have even known about it.
I'm hearing and reading how he just destroyed these poor girls dreams...again, what do you suppose the odds are that any one of them ever listened to Imus? I mean, come on, even if they happened upon MSNBC, once they heard that monotone voice and saw that idiotic cowboy hat they would have changed the channel anyway! And of course, there aren't any rap lyrics that call women ho's...nooooo...Imus just licked that word off the grass!
Maybe Imus thought womens basketball was similar to the NBA...full of gangstas and hoodlums!
Then I hear about Imus' freedom of speech...yeah, he still has freedom of speech. What he doesn't have is the pay that went with it. Now he's like the rest of us...running his mouth for free!
And lastly, let me say this...until this whole Imus thing happened I didn't know or care who won or lost the womens NCAA basketball tournament...and I'm from Jersey...for those of you that don't know...Rutgers is in Jersey.
This will be one of the few times in history that people will remember the team that came in second...so dream on Lady Scarlet Knights, all is not lost!
It's early in the morning and i just looked in the mirror, I need to get my nappy headed ass in the shower...have a nice day!
Here's one for you...
What did the egg say to the boiling water?
Hey! Be easy on me...it might take me a few minutes to get hard....
...I just got laid by this chick!!!
HEHEHE!
I didn't tell you...but I'm telling you now!
I shared with all of you how my pop got a new 24 year old heart...what I didn't share with you was how he had what seemed like a ton of other issues. Enough other issues that he didn't get home until last week.
So, when you look back on it, he went in the hospital the week in between Christmas and New Years and he just got home the Thursday before Easter. That may not be quite accurate because he did get home for less than a week about a month ago. Unfortunately it didn't last and he ended up right back where he started.
Pop is doing pretty well, all things considered...he's home, with family...breathing and living a better life. Someday, I'll get a few days off and get to see him and put my hand on his chest again...
Some days travel gets to me...some weeks it gets to me even more...this is one of those weeks...I miss my girls...all three of them...I miss my family...can't even count how many of them...I miss my dogs...even Hazel!
I'm ready to come home! I feel like I'm on active duty again!
Here's a funny story for you!
The other day my oldest daughter called me up...she says...like she always does...I have a question.
That's how our conversations start most of the time when I'm on the road. Well, they don't exactly start like that...that's not really fair...she does say hi...how are you...then...I have a question.
Anyway...she tells me that radiator fluid is leaking from her car...but she tells me, it's leaking from the back of the car! I tell her, that's not right, it's probably leaking from the front and just working it's way back along a line or something like that...I ask her if the car is running hot or anything...she understands a car running hot as she overheated and basically blew up her last car. She tells me it's running fine.
I figure it must be a slow leak somewhere and recommend that she go down to the local auto parts store and get a can of rediator stop leak. I think that was Saturday or yesterday...
So, she calls me today to tell me what happened...she says that she had a friend look at her car and when he was done he asks her...do you want the good news or the bad news?
She tells him to surprise her...
...he tells her...there's nothing wrong with your car...
...but that bottle of anti-freeze in your trunk is empty!!!
I really do love my girls!!!
