The Ugly American
I'm environmentally friendly!
The only reason I'm even bringing this up is because yesterday was the first time in a while that I've been able to use this toy of mine.
I sometimes get grief from people because I drive a gas guzzling pick-up truck. I can understand that to a point. My Dodge Dakota with its’ 5.2 liter (318cid) V-8 gets terrible gas mileage. Luckily for me, I only live 15 minutes from work so it’s not that big a deal.
I also have an E-bike.
E-bike is made by a company called EVGlobal
. It’s a 26” bike with a 7 speed gear system. It peddles like a bicycle but it also has a 36 volt electric motor inside the rear hub. It’ll run about 17 miles an hour and it will run for about 20 miles on a full charge. There’s an economy button that cuts power in half and allows the bike to run even longer on a charge. I don’t use it much, I like to run the bike at full speed. It plugs into a standard wall outlet and fully recharges in about 4 hours. Other features include headlight, taillight and brakelight, tons of reflectors and a nice cushy seat.
My daughters have never liked this bicycle. When we lived in AZ I’d always ask my daughters if they wanted to go for a bike ride. In the beginning they were very receptive to the idea. After about the second ride around the neighborhood they decided that they didn’t want to go bike riding with dad. It was too much work to keep up. I told them I’d only run it in the economy mode, but they weren’t buying that load of BS.
This is my smokers’ bike. You peddle with the wind and power into the wind. You peddle down hill and power the puppy up hill. Hell, you can even peddle with the motor engaged! You know, take a little strain off that electric motor from carrying your fat ass around for 20 minutes.
My hang out.
I have a place locally here in Virginia Beach that I like to call my 2nd home.
Baker St. is a good place. You can usually find me in there on Friday Afternoons shooting pool, playing darts or just throwing back a few cold ones with friends.
Nice place, good burgers and cold beer. What more could a guy ask for? Stop by sometime and buy me a beer or better yet, a shot of Cabo Wabo!
It has been bought to my attention that there could possibly be one more thing that needed to be included in what I might ask for upon entering any establishment. I'll let your imagination wander and keep this clean!
The Best radio station in Hampton Roads
is the best radio station in Hampton Roads. They've recently made a few changes that have moved them back to the top of the list.
They also set up an internet stream so you can listen to them anywhere. This is really a pretty cool thing. I think one of the main reasons is because this is an area with a very large military population and now they can listen from anywhere in the world.
Anyway, check them out. Great morning show with Tommy and Rumble, you will get a laugh or two. Pretty good music the rest of the day and I just love to listen to Sonja call those songs during the lunch hour.
New Car Feature!
It's my understanding that all new cars sold in the U.S. starting immediately will be equipped with the gauge pictured here.
Of course, the values shown on the guage will be higher on cars sold in California and Canada!
At least Lust came in 2nd!
I kinda figured it would be pride. I mean, my mother once called me a self centered egotistical bastard. She followed that line with, "your just like your father". So I took it as a compliment! I also had an evaluation back in my navy days that said, "Petty Officer Marsh's self confidence borders on arrogance. I took that one as a compliment also! So, pride it is, but lust sounds like so much more fun!
Apparently, I got this one right!
Sure did ask me a lot of questions about how I acted 30 years ago!
Thanks again quizfarm!
This one is scary!!!
Even though I was born and raised a catholic, somehow, I've been labelled a satanist! Or at least I'm being told it may be something I should look into? I'll take it again just to see if it's a mood thing.
| You scored as Satanism. Your beliefs most closely resemble those of Satanism! Before you scream, do a bit of research on it. To be a Satanist, you don't actually have to believe in Satan. Satanism generally focuses upon the spiritual advancement of the self, rather than upon submission to a deity or a set of moral codes. Do some research if you immediately think of the satanic cult stereotype. Your beliefs may also resemble those of earth-based religions such as paganism.|

My take on Terri
I guess it’s time for me to way in on this issue.
I really tried to avoid it as I can’t seem to pick a side. It seems that the more information I get the more difficult this situation gets for me.
On one hand, I see a husband that on the surface, appears to care for his wife and her quality of life. On the other side, you have a family that seems genuinely concerned for the life of their daughter. I also have to question the motivations of a husband who’s been living with another woman and fathered 2 children with that other woman. Does he really have his estranged wife’s best interests at heart?
I hear doctors say that she’s beyond help and I hear others say that she can be rehabilitated. I read that Terri is in fact brain dead and I read other opinions that say that she could eat without the tubes. How can viewpoints or opinions from learned doctors be so opposite?
I look at it is like this: If it were me and I was laid up in a hospital bed for 11 fucking years without the ability to hold my own head still or communicate some kind of reasonable thought to those around me I would rather be gone from this planet! I wouldn’t want people fighting to keep me alive in the state that Terri is in right now! I wouldn’t want my family to go through any of the stuff that either side is going through right now. I feel confident that my family knows that I wouldn’t want to live like this and they wouldn’t fight to keep me alive.
I’ve heard or read the arguments on both sides and I don’t have an answer to this problem. There are a few things I know about this issue. The first thing I know for sure is that if it were me, I’d want to die and the second thing I know is, if it were me, I wouldn’t want the federal government involved! I think most importantly I know that I wouldn’t want anyone but my family making this decision for me.
I’ve seen pictures of Terri Schiavo taken before this all started. She looked like a beautiful, lively woman and something tells me that she’s screaming from behind those blank almost lifeless eyes, “LET ME GO!”
This may be Russ Vaughns best yet!
Naught’s Solved by War?
A flickering dawn lights Islam’s hills
A faint emerging light.
Can the torch of Lady Liberty
Flare away Medieval night?
How fitting our bold symbol
Of all that’s good and right
Eyewitness to the Jihad’s wrath,
Stands forefront in this fight.
Her torch is not mere sculpted bronze,
To those in Mullahs’ chains;
But a lamp held high against the sky
Showing them that hope remains.
Their feudal sheiks view us with scorn,
So obsessed with earthly pleasure;
But one thing they fear that we hold dear,
Is that Bill of Rights we treasure.
We drove a tyrant from his throne,
Brought his people free election.
Think it concerns them overmuch,
WMD’s escaped detection?
Just behold those blue-stained fingers,
Like the Lady’s torch, held high,
So proud of their brave turnout,
Putting Liberals to the lie.
How say you now nay Sayers?
What of your dire predictions?
Like fools you swore naught’s solved by war,
Another of your Liberal fictions.
But now you face a hard clear truth:
A truth that you forswore:
This aborning Bush Democracy
Was midwifed by his war.
Within the womb of Islam,
Freedom’s heart so feebly beats.
Is it up us to make it thrive,
To birth it their streets?
What say you disbelieving Libs,
How now shall this thing go?
Shall we execute your exit plan,
Or stay and help it grow?
What else could it have been?

Why must people blow smoke up my ass?!
I was wandering around the internet today, checking out my links and stuff, you know, doing the stuff bloggers do. I was checking my “blogs I like” list when I clicked on Libertarian girls blog (since removed). Come to find out, libertarian girl is really libertarian guy and according to said guys’ web site, all libertarians are unwashed ugly people. He also says he’s an unemployed 30something living at home with his parents. The real question is what can you actually believe from this guy/girl/whatever?
I can kinda understand wanting to get more traffic, I mean, for a while, I was signing up for every blog exchange I could find, all in the hopes of generating a little traffic. I wasn’t trying to make any money or anything, I just wanted to see that people were visiting and possibly even reading some of my opinions. I have since slowed way down on that attempt. I can only read so many liberal opinions before I feel like my head is going to explode.
Anyway, I’m still trying to figure out why someone would do this kind of thing. Are their opinions not valid enough to be received without a lie attached to them? Are they that intimidated by the internet? I do understand the need and the want of some people to maintain their privacy and that’s all well and good, but why lie? I know that removing the link to libertarian whatever’s website from mine will have no real affect in the long run and I suppose that’s good for him/her/whatever. I just thought it necessary to point it out to the 3 or 4 people that stop by here from time to time.
I actually liked some of the stuff I read on the site when I happened to stop by from time to time, being somewhat of a libertarian myself, but now, I really have no desire to read anything this dickweed has to say.
You may have to take some of the things I say on here with a grain of salt from time to time, but let me assure you, I’m Andy Marsh and I am THE UGLY AMERICAN!
Sorry folks, I've been kinda lazy lately. I just haven't been in the mood to put my thoughts down on paper, or computer as the case may be. Maybe I'm just trying to be nice. I might say something that might offend someone and I surely wouldn't want that!
I was down in FL last week. Really nice down there, I got to go to a Yankee preseason game, which was a great thing. I was sitting right behind Joe Torre and Reggie Jackson. As a Yankee fan, I don't think you could ask for much better.
I have some ideas for the page and I'll work on them and get something good posted up here shortly. To those that do stop by, thanks and see you soon.
I found a bunch of nifty little quizzes at Quizfarm.com

On Sunday January 30, 2005 John Kerry told the world that he would sign SF-180. The form that will release his military records, ALL HIS MILITARY RECORDS
At the top of this weblog I've installed a clock that counts how many days it's been.
